This systematic review was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42018089279) and the protocol is published. Results: The search yielded 11,640 studies. Subsequent to removing duplicates, 9657 studies were screened at title and abstract stage and 1456 were assessed at full-text stage. Eighteen studies met criteria for inclusion in this review. Meta-analysis did not reveal a significant difference between groups for treatment outcome (standardised mean difference 0.22 [-0.09, 0.54]; I2: 69%, p=0.17) and remission (risk ratio 0.84 [0.64, 1.11]; I2: 51%, p=0.22). Limitations: This review was limited by lack of studies on bipolar disorder. Conclusion: PD comorbidity does not appear to affect treatment efficacy of pharmacological interventions for adults with mood disorders.]]> Wed 10 Aug 2022 13:16:51 AEST ]]> How are you sleeping? Assessing the direction of the association in a population-based cohort study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38656 n = 10,003; 48.3% women; 48.5[15.7] years), core food score in 2013 was associated with MHI-5 (β:0.102, 95%CI: 0.010,0.193) in 2017, while the non-core food score was not (β:-0.030, 95%CI:-0.099,0.160). Depressive symptom score in 2013 was not associated with either food score in 2017. Current/prior diagnosis of depression in 2013 was associated with core (β:-0.198, 95%CI:-0.329,-0.067) but not non-core (β:-0.036, 95%CI: -0.151,0.080) food score in 2017. Limitations: Results may not be generalizable to the whole population due to some selection bias, self-report depression diagnosis may have led to misclassification of previous mental illness, and core and non-core food scores are not validated measures of diet quality. Conclusions: There is a prospective association between core food consumption and depressive symptoms. This association is of small magnitude and we cannot discount insufficient core food consumption reflecting an effect of prior mental illness. Our results suggest that, for depression, public health focus should be on improving core food intake.]]> Mon 23 May 2022 14:22:55 AEST ]]> Hippocampal cingulum white matter increases over time in young people at high genetic risk for bipolar disorder https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52503 Mon 16 Oct 2023 10:10:24 AEDT ]]> Depressive and stress symptoms in insomnia patients predict group cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia long-term effectiveness: A data-driven analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41915 14). Conclusions: Our data driven analysis suggest insomnia heterogeneity can be categorized into sub-classes by depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms. In addition, insomnia patients with stress and depression symptoms maintained highest percentage of clinical depression at the end-of-treatment and insomnia at follow-up, in comparison with others classes.
